Betfair: iPhone, Android and mobile access
Betfair app pros and cons
Advantages
- Exchange lets you bet for or against an outcome and request your own odds.
- The unified mobile experience lets you switch between Sportsbook and Exchange.
Limitations
- An Exchange request is not fully placed until another customer matches it.
- Partial and Auto Cash Out remain desktop-only in the new mobile Exchange guide.
Betfair combines two different ways to bet: Sportsbook and Exchange. Sportsbook accepts conventional fixed-odds bets. Exchange lets customers bet with one another, including backing an outcome or betting against it. Betfair is moving these products into a unified mobile experience through a phased update.

Download or update Betfair on iPhone
Follow the current Apple link from Betfair’s official mobile-app directory. Check the listing’s supported devices and iOS requirement, then tap Get or Update. For an iPad, confirm compatibility in the store before installing.
If you already use an Exchange app, follow the update prompt supplied by Betfair. The operator says existing login details, balance and responsible-gambling settings carry over. Do not open a new account just because the app name or navigation changes.
Android and mobile-web access
Use Betfair’s official Android download route. The new Exchange experience also applies to mobile web, while the desktop Exchange is described separately. Your account may receive the update at a different point from another customer’s.
The app directory includes third-party tools as well as Betfair’s own products. Check who supplies a tool and whether it has separate charges before installing it.
Back and lay bets in plain language
Backing means betting that an outcome will happen. Laying means betting that it will not happen. A lay bet has a liability: the amount you could lose if the outcome does occur. Read that liability before confirming; it is not necessarily equal to the other customer’s stake.
An Exchange request needs a match. If nobody accepts your requested odds, it can remain unmatched or only partly matched. Inspect its status instead of assuming the entire amount is already on the event.
Cash Out and features on mobile
Betfair’s update guide says Cash Out is available, but Partial Cash Out and Auto Cash Out remain desktop-only. It also lists features still being introduced to the new mobile version. Check the current help page if a familiar market or tool is missing.
Cash Out is not a guaranteed exit price. Review the offer and whether the action succeeds. For a comparison with a conventional sportsbook, see our bet365 app guide.
Payments and account checks
Use accurate registration details and complete requested verification through the official account. Before depositing, check the cashier’s withdrawal options and any Exchange charges that affect your expected return.
Keep a transaction reference when contacting support. If a login problem appears after the update, recover access through Betfair rather than registering again. Our app versus browser comparison explains when checking the web version can help distinguish an app issue from an account issue.
